Florin Jianu, delegate minister for SME’s and tourism, said on Thursday that the much awaited SMEs Law has finally been published in the Official Monitor.
“I will give you some breaking new: the SMEs law has been published in the Official Monitor. Its number is 62/2014. It is the that introduces European principles for small businesses and it contributes to creating a friendlier, more predictable business environment, like the employers like to brag”, Florin Jianu said.
The minister explained that the new law clearly stipulates that public administration need only ask once of SMEs for certificates regarding public acquisitions or European projects, simplifying procedures immensely.
“Access to acquisitions is very important in this SMEs law because it introduces two new components: firstly, an SME which participates in a public acquisitions needs to satisfy only 50 percent of the requirements of a big company. (…) Another very good measure for SMEs is tied to the fact that, if a big company gets a public contract, it is required to declare its subcontractors from among SME’s, including terms and payment methods stipulated directly in the state contract. We don’t want any more situations where big companies get their money and refuse to pay their dues, inducing bankruptcies for many SME’s”, says Jianu.
