This year, online retailer eMag and IT&C retailer Flanco announced they will organize Black Friday a week earlier than expected.

While the event should normally have taken place on November 29, the two retailers announced that they will have it this year on November 22.

“This is a major event in the United States but it does not mean we must import it in the same way. (…) I expect all retailers to push Black Friday earlier, on November 22. It is more convenient for us to have it on this date because we cannot deliver overnight and by December 30, we want all the merchandise to have reached all our clients,” said Iulian Stanciu, general manager of eMag (in picture).

Last year, Black Friday sales totaled EUR 60 million on the entire Romanian market. For this year, Stanciu estimates total sales on the market will total about EUR 100 million overall.

The two retailers anticipate sales of EUR 41 million together, 52 percent up on the previous year.

In 2012, the sales of eMag and Flanco represented 39.5 percent of the total sales on the market. This year, the two retailers estimate their sales will represent 40 percent of total market sales.

Online retailer EvoMAG also announced on November 11 that it will hold Black Friday on November 2 and that it will last for the entire weekend, according to Business Magazin.
