Dracula Film Horror and Fantasy Festival is actually a competition on its second edition between international feature films, international short movies and Romanian short movies. The grand opening of the festival will be with a projection of Gary Shore’s first feature movie, Dracula Untold, which will available on the Romanian silver screens starting October 3.

Dracula Untold retells the historical origin story of Dracula,  more precisely the reign of Vlad Dracula, known also as the Vlad the Impaler, a Romanian prince who ruled from 1456-1462. Originally mythologized by Bram Stoker in his novel Dracula, the story continues to fascinate audiences, after several screenings of the subject.

Luke Evans and Sarah Gadon will play Dracula and his wife, Morena, opposite Dominic Cooper as Mehmed II and Samantha Barks as Baba Yaga, a beautiful woman who becomes a powerful witch. Charles Dance also stars as Caligula, the Roman emperor-turned-vampire, who transforms Vlad into the creature of legend.

Welsh Julian Richards is the president of the Dracula Film Festival jury along with Toni Benages Gallard and Aurelian Nica. The second edition of Dracula Film: Horror and Fantasy Festival will take place in Brasov between October 1-5 in several locations such as Sica Alexandrescu Theater, Patria Cinema and Rockstadt Club. The full program of the event will be available here.
