Bucharest attracted 1.32 million tourists last year, nearly half of which from abroad: 600,000 foreign tourists. That is more than Constanta (436,500), Brasov (396,300), Timisoara (224,400) and Sibiu (222,800) combined and twice as much as the entire seaside.
Mangalia comes in 6th by number of tourists with 214,000 people, followed by Sinaia (197,000), Predeal (148,000), Targu Mures (147,000), Arad (144,000), Cluj-Napoca (121,000) and Eforie (117,380) according to data supplied by the National Tourism Authority.
The ranking takes into account checkins in accommodation units and doesn’t differentiate between vacationers, business-people and individuals with other reasons to travel and check-in.
In 2013, 7,94 million checked in in Romania, out of which 6.22 million Romanian and 1.7 million foreigners.
Most foreign tourists that come to Romania are from Germany (228,000), Italy (180,000), France (118,000), Hungary (99,000), Israel (96,000), United Kingdom (92,000), USA (91,000) and Spain (66,000).
