An Innovation Center in Cybernetic Security will be set up in Romania, with the contribution of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and General Dynamics Fydelis, according to a press release from the Romanian Ministry of Communications.

By September 2015, General Dynamics will make a feasibility study for setting up the center.  The goal of the study is to identify the most suitable architecture for an innovation center in cybernetic security in Romania, taking into account all the actors interested in setting up the center, from public institutions to private entities.

“We are delighted that by using cybernetic security technologies from the United States we will consolidate the network from Romania,” said Jim Cunningham, commercial counselor of the US Embassy.

The study will set the foundations of the future investments to be made into the innovation center and will help finance the training of CERT-RO specialists.

The project will be financed entirely by the American partners, with USD 400,000 being offered by General Dynamics Fydelis and USD 400,000 by the USTDA.

The ceremony that marked the signing of the grant for the financing of the Innovation Center in Cybernetic Security, provided by the USTDA to the National Center for Response to Cybernetic Security Incidents (CERT-RO), took place today in the presence of Communications Minister Razvan Cotovelea.

“We come with a young and efficient team- I am mentioning here the CERT-RO team- that will be directly involved in the study by offering its direct support in gathering the necessary information to the team of the contractor General Dynamics Fidelis,” said the Romanian Communications Minister.

“I hope that the project started today- the feasibility study regarding the setup of an Innovation Center in Cybernetic Security is followed by the foundation of the center. The next step, in a not too distant future, would be to think about its size, as far as European cooperation is concerned,” added Cotovelea.
