American online commerce platform Amazon announced its plans to expand its European operations this year, including in Romania, where it will create “several thousand jobs,” Agerpres informs.
The company stated that in 2015 its number of employees in Europe increased by 10,000 and it will continue to invest in R&D and also into structures supporting cloud computing.
“We intend to create several thousands of jobs in 2016, starting with linguists, digital media experts and including collaborators for our distribution and customer service centers,” said Amazon Europe vice-president, Xavier Garambois.
The work places also aim Amazon’s 12 R&D centers in Germany, Holland, Ireland, Romania, Poland, Spain and Great Britain.
The online trader invested some EUR 15 million in its European infrastructure and operations from 2010 until the present date. The new wave of investments come after the record sales Amazon registered in Europe during the Christmas period.
