Agenda updates for the Tax & Law Conference 2016

Business Review announces updates in the agenda for the fifteenth edition of the Tax & Law Conference 2016, the forefront event dedicated to tax and legal professionals in Romania. The conference will take place on March 30 at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel, Platinum Hall, starting from 08:30 a.m.

The new Fiscal Code rollout, the second one since 2004, marks a landmark in Romania’s development towards a more business-friendly system. In a Business Review article dedicated to the new code and the reactions of the private sector to the changes implemented from January this year,  Alin Chitu, Tax Partner at Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii Tax, underlines the importance of a consolidated taxation system  for investors and taxpayers all together: “Restructuring tax provisions in the main laws on tax compliance was a much-needed action. In the 10 years since the last consolidation of tax legislation, more than 100 amendments were made. Thus, the laws required restructuring so that taxpayers would better understand their liabilities and, at the end of the day, so as to enhance voluntary compliance”.

However, these changes do not directly imply less administrative efforts from the private sector.

“Due to the high number of changes, additional issues were raised which needed solutions. A guideline is needed in order to implement the new provisions and additional clarifications are eagerly expected”  says Rudolf Lukavsky, Commercial Counselor, Austrian Embassy in Bucharest. Consequently, this year’s edition of Tax & Law Conference aims to tackle the most important aspects of the new Fiscal Code and their impact on the Romanian business environment in order to bring competent, applicable solutions for any challenges that may lay ahead for taxpayers.
