Radio Romania’s war correspondents have made an exhibition with photos from Afghanistan, which was opened on October 24, one day in advanced for the National Army Day, celebrated by Romanians on October 25.

“We come together to honor Romania’s contribution to the 12 years of combat in Afghanistan and celebrate the strengthening of the U.S. – Romanian Strategic Partnership.  (…)  This photography exhibit is here to remind us of hard work and sacrifices made in the name of building a peaceful Afghanistan”, said US charge d’affaires A.I. Dean Thompson at the opening. He also mentioned in his speech the fact that “nearly 25,000 Romanian troops have served in Afghanistan, a testament to Romania’s steadfast commitment to the mission.  This commitment is not, however, without deep sacrifice.  We honor the 23 soldiers who lost their lives and the 129 who were wounded to bring about the improvements seen in Afghanistan today.”

Some of the authors of the exhibition are Mario Balint, who made film photography, Radu Dobritoiu and Ilie Pintea, who used digital cameras.
