Out of the 13 days off this year, set for public or religious holidays, Romanians will celebrate the Pentecost Sunday and Monday (May 31st and June 1st) and enjoy a long weekend.  Travel agency Paralela 45 estimates that the number of people who will go on vacation over this long weekend will grow compared to last year and will reach 50,000, Romanians choosing mainly coastline destinations, given the warm weather forecasted.

“On Whitsuntide, the majority of the holidays we sold are at the seaside, both in Romania and in Bulgaria. Romanians will benefit from the extended weekend and from the hotel rates that during this period are up to 30 percent lower than in high season, and in some units is offered free Pentecost meal. Many will also take the Friday off in order to extend the weekend and therefore they will prefer to choose destinations close to their home and between the Romanian and the Bulgarian coast is not much difference in terms of distance or fares,” said in a release Alin Burcea, Paralela 45 president.

In the Paralela 45 offer, the most requested offers were those for the period Mat 29 – June 1 with 3 night accommodation. Prices start from RON 102 (EUR 23) / person / stay with a 3 night accommodation in a standard double room for Romanian coastline, from EUR 26 / person / 3 nights stay in a double room with all inclusive for Bulgarian coast and RON 290 (EUR 65) / person / 3 nights stay in a double room with breakfast included at the mountains.

Last year about 40,000 Romanians went on holiday on the Pentecost weekend, down 30 percent against 2013 when the holiday was at the end of June, when students were already on vacation.
