400 programming enthusiasts and professionals meet at DevHacks 2015 hackathon

IT specialists and enthusiasts will meet on 21-22 November at The National Library at one of the most challenging hackathons in the country. For 24 hours, 400 professionals and software developers will try to achieve a functioning application in one of the fields: Health & Fitness, Education, Smart City. In the end a jury consisting of mentors and company representatives will choose the winning team. The big prize is 2500 Euro.

Who can participate at DevHacks? The event is dedicated to those interested in an interactive competition, those who are looking for a job in IT and to those who want to participate in a contest which could bring them a consistent prize. The event is suited for everyone who enjoys a challenge and can withstand the race of time (24 hours of non-stop programming). IT professionals, students or young people who have skills in one of the programing languages such as: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Java, C/C++/C#, Phyton, Ruby, iOS, Android etc. can register at the event. Those who would like to take part in this competition have the possibility to register as an individual or as a team with other friends at www.hipo.ro, at the section dedicated to the event or at www.devtalks.ro/devhacks.

Chilling and Fun Areas for the participants. Alongside the intense programming activity, the 400 participants will enjoy Chilling and Fun Areas. Because this competition means 24 hours of non-stop programming, breaks and relaxation areas are essential for the success of the involved teams. These areas will offer programmers extra comfort and will alleviate the pressure of time. Fun Area partners such as RoboFun or Fungadgets will keep the participants alert and involved. Also, the Chilling Area partner Ceragem will provide constant support and will keep a good disposition amongst those who participate at the event.

The companies, mentors and specialists present at the event. Partners of this event are Accenture, IBM, Teamnet and Brainspotting, within which the mentors and evaluators in this hackathon work. These companies will provide prizes and challenges for the participants and also advice and counseling sessions with their specialists in order to develop applications and innovative methods that will lead to an improvement in the social reality.

Furthermore, DevHacks has the support of the following mentors, who are professionals in the field of software development and who will be providing help and useful advice to the teams:

  • – Andrei Craciun – Senior Software Engineer at Intel Corporation;
  • – Paul Brie – Department Manager at Evozon;
  • – Daniel Ilinca – Managing Director at Cornerstone Technologies International;
  • – Ion Meitoiu – DevOps Engineer at Adobe;
  • – Mike Elsmore – Developer Advocate, IBM Cloudant at IBM;
  • – Radu Amarie – Head of Engineering at Findie.

 

Mobile Academy will also be present at the event with mentors such as: Carmen Ruse – User Experience Dsigner at Adobe, UX Trainer at Mobile Academy, Radu Dita – Team Lead Mobile at Iron Sheep, iOS Trainer at Mobile Academy, Cornel Balaban – Development Manager Mobile at Avira, Android Trainer at Mobile Academy, Bülent Duagi Ex-Product Manager at Bitdefender, Product Trainer at Mobile Academy.

Amongst other IT specialists that will participate at the hackathon are: Razvan Rughinis, professor at Polytechnic University in Bucharest and Tudor Cobalas, Cofounder at SafeDrive, as well as mentors from Let’s do it Romania.
