Expression of great culture, classical music consumption is very low for the general population of Romania, 80.6 percent of respondents stating they do not attend such events, while 15.2 percent say they seldom attend them, shows the barometer quoted by Mediafax.

In terms of theater, the number of “non-consumers” dropped over the past decade by about 14 percent, being the case of the highest decrease recorded in a form of public cultural consumption for which data were collected.

In 2014, of the population analyzed at national level, 5.7 percent went at least once a month to the cinema. Compared to 2005, the “non-consumers” segment is lesser for men than for women, 58 percent compared to 67.2 percent.

In terms of reading, the trend is not a positive one either. Thus, at the level of the overall population, 79.2 percent of respondents did not go last year to the library to read.
