Call for Leaders – 3Q is a BR exclusive interview series, which features our 3 questions with some of Romania’s top business professionals, bringing a positive, insightful, or otherwise constructive view of their markets in the context of the current crisis.

Current conversation: Adrian Craioveanu – Marketing Director DAAS International Group

1.How do you define the new normal that everyone should submit to?

It is probably one of the most challenging reality for businesses and individuals – a test of adaptation and reinvention that we had to face, a period full of uncertainty that forced us to be more pragmatic and to take important decisions in a shorter period of time, without having all data. So the normality of each business was different and depended a lot on the way this crisis was managed – the ones who were able to act fast and take wise decisions remained on track or even made profit, while the others lost ground.  In our case, to be more precise, one of the measures we took was adapting our HORECA equipment offers to the new trends of the market – take away and centralized cooking. It was a strategic measure that helped us remain profitable during 2020.

2.Has this crisis altered your optimism or hopes for your business plan in this calendar year?

During any type of crisis, important opportunities may appear and if you know how to take advantage of them big things can happen. It is of course a matter of chance also, but the last thing you should do is loose your optimism. You have to stay focused, identify what are the real needs of the market and see if you can meet them with your products or services. This is what we did during the previous year – the retail industry increased significantly so the diverse portfolio of products and services together with a series of strategic measures helped us achieve our goals despite the context. We are looking confident to the next year as we already have big projects in the pipeline.

3.What’s next for the industry you are currently representing?

The retail industry is continuously growing and as soon as the HORECA industry will get back to normal, the demand for refrigerating projects will increase. Aftersales services are also an important growth factor for our business and we are expecting that more and more clients will require it. Furthermore, timing will be even more crucial, especially in this business – this is why we created dedicated teams for the management of our projects in order to act fast and to be cost efficient.
