Vodafone launches digital library at the Bucharest subway

Telecom operator Vodafone Romania in collaboration with Humanitas publishing house have launched the first digital library at the subway, which is located at the Piata Victoriei station and will be available to readers until October 31, 2012.

In order to have access to the digital offer, bookworms should scan the QR code on the book which is on one of the library’s shelves, after which they will be directed to a website www.bibliotecapemobil.ro where they can download free of charge a fragment from each book in pdf, epub or audio format.

Traffic on this website is free of charge until October 31 for Vodafone Romania customers.

The Vodafone digital library comprises 49 book titles by Romanian writers such as Neagu Djuvara, Lucian Boia, Mircea Cartarescu, Constatin Noica, Gabriel Liiceanu, Andrei Plesu, Radu Paraschivescu and foreign writers such as Amos Oz, Nikos Kazantzakis, Paulo Coelho, C.S Lewis and Lev Tolstoi. and 10 audio books by writers such as Ion Creanga, Lev Tolstoi, Mateiu I. Caragiale, Milan Kundera, Mircea Cartarescu, Mircea Eliade, Gottfried August Burger, Franz Kafka, Gabriel Liiceanu, and George Toparceanu.

The only digital book that can be downloaded entirely for free is Sub pecetea tainei by Mateiu I. Caragiale. To download the full version of the other books, readers will be directed to the website of the Humanitas publishing house where they can buy the book online.
