About 40,000 tourists spent their Easter holidays in Romanian seaside resorts; Mamaia and Vama Veche were the most popular destinations. The number of tourists is expected to remain high for the May 1 public holiday.
Hotel owners said most of the tourists booked rooms from Friday to Monday, but there are others who will spend the entire mini-holiday at the seaside.
New tourists were expected to arrive for the April 29-May 2 period. Some even said the number of tourists who come to the seaside might be even higher for the May 1 holiday than it was for Easter.
In this period, around 250 police officers have been ensuring public order in seaside resorts and the city of Constanta.
