The tourism agency Vola.ro recorded 32,251 airline tickets sold în May, being the first time when the monthly threshold of 30,000 tickets was exceeded. The total value of these tickets is EUR 5.3 million, resulting in an average price/ticket of about EUR 165.
This year, the monthly number of airline tickets sold ranged between 26,000 and 29,879.
“Although we are in a period of maturing the industry and eating out, with no galloping growth, we are happy to see that in two years since reaching the threshold of 20,000 tickets/month we also exceeded the level of 30,000 tickets/month,” said Claudia Tocila, marketing manager Vola.ro
The most expensive ticket sold in May reached EUR 1,770 and was a ticket to Cuzco, Peru.
The favorite foreign destinations for Romanian tourists were London, Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Athens, Brussels, Paris and Madrid. Of the distant or exotic destinations, most of the tickets were for destinations like Cancun, Havana, New Delhi, Manila and Mauritius.
