Three Romanian entrepreneurs invested EUR 150,000 in DOXTAR, a digital platform for patients who need medical advice.

The app mainly targets those who need a second medical opinion after they get a diagnosis.

DOXTAR aims to expand and simplify patients’ access to healthcare, the founders say, as a study by iVox showed that half of adults in urban areas aged 25-45 who have medical issues say that they would have needed more details regarding their recent diagnosis.

A similar share of respondents in the study (44.7 percent) considered a second medical opinion in the six months after their initial consult. The main reasons why they would take such a decisions are: thinking they didn’t have all the information they needed about diagnosis or treatment (28.2 percent), not trusting the diagnosis (24.2 percent) and not trusting the recommended treatment (14.3 percent).
