MedLife has announced the acquisition of the full share package in Lotus Hospital in Ploiesti, the most important provider of private medical services in Prahova county, which provides integrated outpatient, imaging, laboratory services, hospitalization and maternity.
The hospital comprises 22 beds in 12 reserves, 2 intensive care rooms and one operating block with 2 operating rooms. The outpatient part is equipped with 9 consulting rooms, covering 21 medical specialties, but also with a complete department of radiology and state-of-the-art medical imaging. The unit also includes a laboratory which performs over 500 complex medical tests.
“We will team up with the largest player in private medical services in Romania, but also in South East Europe, and this is something that makes us very happy and honoured. This partnership will help us to continue our plan: to provide each patient integrated medical services to the highest standards, based on state-of-the-art technological support,” said Nicoleta Craciunoiu, General Director of Lotus Hospital.
In 2018, Lotus Hospital served approximately 100,000 patients. The company currently has over 135 doctors and nurses and has registered a turnover of EUR 3.9 million in 2018.
“For us, Lotus becomes an important partnership in the south of the country that shares the same healthy business structure as ours. We have been present on the medical services market in Ploiesti for 3 years, through a hyperclinic, and once this transaction is completed, we will be able to offer people in Prahova and tens of thousands of business clients integrated medical services, including outpatient, laboratory, imaging and hospitalization. At the same time, this partnership is also a proof of our long-term commitment to investors to continue our expansion through acquisitions. It is the second step after OncoTeam from a larger series of transactions that we hope to sign by the end of this year,” said Mihai Marcu, President and CEO of MedLife.
The MedLife Medical System is the private medical operator with the largest national network, with infrastructure in all cities over 150,000 inhabitants. “We have numerous requests from large corporations with employees nationwide to be able to send their employees for prevention services to clinics of the same brand in all major cities. And because we are constantly investing in development and innovation, we are preparing for the launch of some services for the national premiere of health monitoring of the employees of the companies, at the same time with the most modern concepts regarding the correlation between health and performance,” added Mihai Marcu.
The transaction was mediated by Deloitte Romania, through Ioana Filipescu, Corporate Finance Partner.
By taking over the Lotus hospital, the MedLife group reaches a portfolio of 25 acquired companies. Its most recent previous transaction was the OncoTeam laboratory in Bucharest.
