Romanians look for non-wage benefits when seeking a job

The most important criterion for Romanians when they are looking for a job are salary and non-wage benefits, says Randstad Employer Branding 2019. 

Also, the most wanted companies to work for in Romania are ING Bank (banking industry), Coca-Cola (FMCG), Valeo (industrial production), OMV (oil and gas) (services), Kaufland (retail), Ford (automotive) and Huawei (IT).

And if 70 percent of Romanian are looking, with priority, at the salary and additional benefits, 57 percent of them want a pleasant work environmen.

For more than half (54 percent), job security is a key-issue, followed by career perspectives (50 percent), and professional life balance (44 percent).

On the other hand, most Romanian employees leave a job due to low compensation package (57 percent), limited career opportunities (45 percent), lack of recognition / rewards (38 percent), life balance issues (24 percent) and lack of financial stability of the company (23 percent).

Regarding the expectations of the employees according to their generation profile, 33% of the generation Z (aged 18-24) want quality training from their employer.

Also, 46 percent of the X generation (35-54 years old) people were most dissatisfied with the lack of work-life balance, more than half of the millennials (25-34) of lack of career opportunities, and 40% of boomers (55-64) from lack of financial health.

Referrals from friends

According to the study, when searching for a job, Romanians use personal relationships or referrals, recruiting agencies, Google, the company’s career site, and job fairs.

Half of the candidates say they would not work for a company with a bad reputation, even if it would bring them a salary increase. 

96 percent agree that aligning personal values ​​to company culture is a key-factor to being satisfied at work, while and 80 percent of team leaders agree that a strong employer’s brand has a significant impact on their chances of employing talent.

At the same time, nearly two-thirds of employees search for social media information before applying for a post within them.
