Raluca and Razvan Stefanescu were 27 years old in 2012 when they launched the Cupio, the 100 percent Romanian professional cosmetics brand, with an initial investment of EUR 10,000. The store proved to be a winner for the two young entrepreneurs from Timisoara, since the first year was concluded with 7 employees, 3 Cupio shops and a turnover of 120,000 euros.

The turnover for 2017 is EUR 6.5 million. The forecasts are that at the end of 2019 we will exceed the figure of 10,000,000 euros and works with about 100 partners from 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

Businesspeople in the West of the country have seen the potential of e-commerce and the development they would have, and that’s why they have given maximum importance to the moment they set up the online store.

“The relationship with the suppliers was one of the most difficult things we faced at the beginning, we wanted to find producers to deliver quality products,” recalls Razvan Stefanescu, one of the founders.

“All the success we have today has involved work, involvement and sacrifices, including in our personal lives, because we have lost the number of days we spent until late at the office,” says Raluca Stefanescu. “But we had a clear goal and a dream to put our shoulder every day: to be an international brand and to prove that even in Romania it can be a successful business.”

Today, on www.cupio.ro, over 10,000 items and 8 own brands are marketed. Originally known for its range of nail products, Cupio wanted to meet as many of its customers’ beauty needs as they now have make-up, personal care and salon amenities.

Raluca and Răzvan Ştefănescu’s plans are equally bold: in 2019 they will open new stores and will increasingly focus on international brand development.

Cupio is a 100 percent Romanian company, founded in 2012 by Raluca and Răzvan Stefanescu, two young entrepreneurs from Timisoara. From the very beginning, Cupio has marketed professional cosmetics for both beauty salons and end-users. Throughout the years, Cupo has evolved continuously by diversifying the range of products and services offered to customers. Currently, Cupio has 8 own brands in its portfolio, over 10,000 products, marketed both online and offline in the 10 stores available in 5 cities in the country with 80 employees.
