The City Grill Group, the most important Romanian restaurant group in the local market, is taking over the former Becker Brau pub in the Rahova area and it will open it after an investment of EUR 500,000.

The new space will be open this spring and it will be a part of a comprehensive development plan of the City Grill Group, which aims to expand the portfolio of restaurants in buildings or places with hospitality history in Bucharest or major cities in the country.

”The total investment in new restaurants or refurbishment of the group for this year may exceed EUR 3.5 million, the development being conditioned by finding suitable spaces. We are looking for places that have the potential to become relevant destinations on the gourmet map of the city, or locations with history that we can bring to the attention of the public, as we did with Caru ‘cu Bere, Pescarus or Hanu’ lui Manuc. We know that the former brewery Becker Brau is such a place, a good mood and good beer destination, which will attract both a part of our faithful audience, but also new customers in the vicinity or who have been customers of the berry in the past,” says Daniel Mischie, CEO of City Grill Group.

Located in the Uranus neighborhood on Rahovei Road, the new location in the portfolio of the City Grill Group has been known to the public in Bucharest since 1996. Becker Brau was the only beer brewery with a very innovative concept for those years, but it was at so much appreciated for the tasty food, and for the good mood due to the atmosphere of the live music of the troupes and the artists who concerted there.

”I’m glad the Becker beer will be sold again where it was invented and was first produced, it’s a place of great importance for us. At the same time, I trust that the City Grill Group will turn the spot into a relevant destination for the public who dine in the city and will again bring local and even international fame,” said Christian Becker, the owner of the former brewery.

The area has an area of over 1,000 sqm and can accommodate up to 300 indoor guests and 200 on the terrace.

”It is a place of reference in Bucharest, precisely the type of place where we can put the City Grill expertise in the field of hospitality. We trust that this summer, Becker Brau will become a destination as a restaurant in the City Grill Group. In the area of the old Uranus neighborhood, a pole for restaurants with good food is crystallized, in which the one we will open will certainly be an attraction,” adds Mischie.

The works for the restaurant of the new City Grill restaurant are in progress and will be open this spring with a team of more than 100 employees.

In 2018, the City Grill Group reached a turnover of EUR 37.7 million, up 11 percent over the previous year. The value of investments in 2018 amounted to EUR 2.3 million.

City Grill has over 1,350 employees in restaurants and cafes operated and is the most important Romanian employer in the restaurants industry. The most sought-after positions are picnics, waiters, chefs and chef’s help. The City Grill Group was founded in 2004 and it currently operates restaurants and cafes under the brands Caru ‘Cu Bere, Hanu’ Manuc, Pescarus, Berari Inn, Trattoria Buongiorno, City Grill and City Café.
