Carrefour posts sales of EUR 534 mln in Q3 in Romania, up 6.1 pct

French retail group Carrefour has posted total sales of EUR 534 million in Romania in the third quarter of this year, up 6.1 percent compared with the same period last year, according to quarterly results released by the group.

Romania is now the fifth largest market in Europe for Carrefour, excedding Poland, where the French group registered total sales of EUR 494 million in Q3 2018.

Carrefour has in Romania more than 300 stores in several formats – hypermarkets, supermarkets, urban and rural proximity, cash & carry and online.

At Group level, Carrefour recorded revenues of EUR 21.09 billion in Q3 2018, down by 2.8 percent compared with Q3 2017.

The French group covers most market formats in Romania with 32 hypermarkets (with the Carrefour brand), 235 supermarkets (Market), 53 units of urban proximity (Express and Express Orange) and rural (Contact), plus online. They are joined by Supeco units, a mix of discounter and cash & carry.
