An overseas Romanian startup, the main supporter of Techsylvania 2015

The second edition of Techsylvania, the biggest international technology and innovation event in the region, will take place from June 6 to 9 at Casa de Cultura a Studentilor in Cluj-Napoca.

Techsylvania aims to promote the local and Romanian communities as well established and recognised tech centres on an international scale and also to stimulate the development of local products. The event offers both the opportunity for social interaction with the purpose of establishing new partnerships, financing opportunities or mentors’ advice from well know experts as well as the chance of promoting revolutionary tech ideas of Romanian developers.

Even iMedicare, the main partner of this year’s edition of Techsylvania is a success story founded by a Romanian. Flaviu Simihaian started in New York the Romanian startup and he is now commuting between the offices in the “Big Apple” and the ones in Cluj-Napoca, where the local team of developers resides. The iMedicare platform provides personalized information to over 4000 pharmacies in the US about prescriptions and medical condition of the patients and this year is “Platinum” Partner at the event.

Also, Flaviu is one of the speakers at the second edition of Techsylvania. He will present at the conference where over 500 participants are expected, a keynote about “Raising Money: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly” and will share the stage with Andrei Dunca – LiveRail founder, who will hold a debate together with Chairmaine Li – senior editor at Tech.eu about what it means to have faith in your idea and continue to develop it until it becomes an appealing offer which can not be turned down even by Facebook itself. Anda Gansca – CEO Knotch recently nominated in the prestigious list INC “30 under 30” will carry on alongside numerous international speakers from IT giants – Google, Uber, Booking.com, Paypal, and other international and successful entrepreneurs like David Bettner – founder “Words with Friends” or Gentry Underwood – founder Mailbox.

The first day of the conference, June 8, will be opened with the debate about future trends in Internet security between Florin Talpes – CEO Bitdefender and Phillip Kandal – General Manager Telenav Europe and Techsylvania Chairman and will continue with Radu Georgescu – Founder Partner GECAD who will talk about the road to success from Romania to Silicon Valley.

Representatives like the following Paypal – Cristiano Betta, Booking.com – Christopher Osborne, TechStars – Jon Bradford, and other Romanian entrepreneurs as well (Calin Vaduva – Fortech, Bogdan Herea – Pitech Plus) will discuss the future of the local IT environment in a panel alongside Phillip Kandal. Also on the first day of the conference numerous foreign investors (Venture Capitalists) will take the stage Techsylvania including Mick Jon Hagen Søberg who will address varied opinions about different perspectives in the field of financing a startup. 6th and 7th of June are dedicated to the 24 hours hackathon after which the winning teams will receive one Vector Luna Smartwatch, Pebble devices, 4 Razor gaming keyboards from Braintree, up to 40 devices from Misfit, Bitdefender products, hours of mentoring from the founders Pitech + Plus and Rodeapps, Garmin devices and other gadgets such as Onyx Beacons, Leap Motion, Haloband, Metawear, Parrot, and also office space at ClujHub or an exclusive invitation to the pre-accelerator program hosted by Young Leaders Club in Constanta between 21 and 28 of June. In addition, they will have the opportunity to present their ideas in front of the audience from the first day of the conference.

Wearable programming enthusiasts will have the opportunity to develop the first Romanian apps on the newest flagship smartwatches launched globally like Apple Watch and also the version of the Romanian smartwatch manufacturer, Vector Watch. Other devices joining the wearables’ team will be Misfit, Moto 360, Pebble, Jawbone UP,Parrot mini drones, Oculus Rift DevKit 2, The Eyetribe Tracker, Sphero, Onyx Beacons, Leap Motion, Google Glass and Metawear platform.

8 judges will preside and offer mentorship to the teams during the 24 hours hackathon. Among them there will be: Dan Romescu – CEO Augumented Citizen, Ákos Bálint – Product & Offering Development at Accenture, Stefan Karschti – Software Arhitect at Telenav and Marius Mornea – CTO at Onyx Beacon.

June 1 is the last day when “Regular”  type tickets will be available at a price between EUR 49 and EUR 119, followed thereafter by “Last Minute” tickets.
