Runners from 29 countries, gathering a total of over 3.000 people, participated on June 3 in Constitutiei Square at the first edition of Petrom Bucharest International Half Marathon.
The winner of the Half Marathon was Anthony Maritim from Kenya, with an average time of 1h3min51sec for 21.097 kilometers. The second and the third place were won by Bartale Richard, with 1h4min19sec and Andrew Kiprop, 1h4min25sec, both fromKenya, too.
The first place for the National Half Marathon category was taken by Ion Bocancea with an average time of 1h12min19sec. At the ceremony award the prizes were offered by Olympic champions Gabi Szabo, Doina Ignat, Viorica Susanu, Camelia Lupascu, together with Carmen Tocala, the President of National Sport and Youth Authority.
In the Half Marathon Women category, Kenya took the first prize again as Pamela Lisoreng finished the run in 1h12min46sec, followed by Elena Daniela Cirlan, Romania and Nicoleta Alina Petrescu, Romania.
Runners in this race came from Romania, Spain, Sweden, Israel, England, Ireland, Italy, Ethiopia, Kenya, Serbia, Germany, Belarus, Republic of Moldavia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Croatia, France, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Russia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Australia, Holland, Belgium and Ukraine. A total of 50 prizes with a total value of EUR 15,000 were given at the Petrom Bucharest International Half Marathon.
