Pedro Sierra and Juana la Tobala in Bucharest flamenco recital

Guitar player Pedro Sierra and soloist Juana la Tobala will give a flamenco recital Thursday, October 23rd, starting 8 pm.

Pedro Sierra (pictured) is known for the many facets of his guitar playing: as a soloist, and voice and dancing accompaniment. He collaborated with great names of flamenco and dancing, among which Farruco, José Mercé, Manuela Carrasco, Mayte Martin, Mario Maya, La Tobala, Javier Barón, El Potito, Israel Galván, Cristina Hoyos, La Susi, Carmen Linares. He composed the music for flamenco works such as Romancero Gitano by Cristinei Hoyos, Por Aquí te quiero ver by Manuel Soler, Los Zapatos Rojos by Israel Galván, La Francesa by Pastora Galván, Poema del Cante Jondo for the Andalucía Ballet, Encuentros by El Junco, and for the film Bodas de Gloria by Farruco. Besides working as a producer, he recorded as three albums as a soloist: Al sur de mi guitarra (1999), Decisión (2001) and Nikelao (2005).
Juana Riba Salazar la Tobala worked with artists such as Manuela Carrasco, Joaquin Cortes, La Chana, having toured in cities such as New York, Jakarta, Tokyo, Kuopio, Mexico DF, Bogota, Sidney, etc. As a soloist she made eight recordings together with husband and producer Pedro Sierra: Dime sí en la vida (1989), Jardanay (1993), Espejo del Alma (1995), Rincones de sueños puros (1997) and Duquelas (1999), Azul (2004).

The event will take place at ARCUB (14 Batistei Str.) Tickets can be bought at the ARCUB box office or online at bilete.arcub.ro. Prices range from RON 15 to RON 35.
It is organized by the Bucharest Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Embassy in Romania, with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation AECID.
